Insurance reimbursement in Michigan
Truckers with an insured truck or vehicle in Michigan could get a rebate of $ 400 to start the new year. The state has a surplus of funds in the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association Fund. If you have questions about reimbursement, contact your insurer.
FMCSA extends British Columbia declaration of emergency
The FMCSA has extended its declaration of emergency related to the floods and landslides in British Columbia. The order allows Canadian drivers providing emergency services and essential goods to bypass certain FMCSA regulations. It now lasts until January 31.

Daimler recalls 7,000 Western Stars
Daimler recalled the Western Stars from the 2017 thru 2019 model years. These trucks have a power stud that goes through the bulkhead, which could cause arcing and fire. A little more than 7,000 units are concerned.

Daimler recall for steering problem
Daimler has recalled certain 2021 and 2022 Western Star 49X trucks. Certain steering shafts may not have been installed correctly, which could result in loss of steering control. Around 500 trucks are affected.

Idaho to begin authorizing the transport of hemp shipments, production
The Idaho State Department of Agriculture announced that the United States Department of Agriculture had approved the state’s hemp law, which defined “hemp” as different from marijuana and legalized it. This means that truckers can transport it without encountering any problems with law enforcement.

OOIDA Mary Johnston Scholarship
Applications are accepted for the OOIDA Mary Johnston Fellowship. The program awards one scholarship of $ 2,000 per year and four scholarships of $ 1,000 per year to children, grandchildren and dependents of OOIDA members. You can apply via the OOIDA website. The deadline is February 1st.
Great Dane recall
Great Dane trailers will recall approximately 3,300 2022 model year Champion dry trailers and Everest refrigerated trailers due to a lack of lubricant in the wheel hub. Pennsylvania launches new website and app
Pennsylvania DOT has rolled out some updates to its 511PA travel information service. 511PA is available online, by smartphone app or you can call 511.
Cummins recalls engines
A recall has been issued on certain Cummins X12 diesel engines. Fuel hoses in engines can crack, causing fuel to leak at high pressure, increasing the risk of fire.

Daimler will recall around 100 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles from model year 2021. The front axle fender liner and brake hose may be too close, allowing the guard liner to be too close together. sludge coming into contact and damaging the brake hose.

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling nearly 3,000 trucks from 2020 to 2022 for a problem with the fuel injection system. The fuel tubes between the fuel rail and the injectors of cylinders four, five, and six can fatigue and crack, which can cause high pressure fuel leakage. The recall begins on February 10.
