Marshalltown man Jose Eduardo Victor, 31, was arrested for his alleged role in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Fifth and Main streets Monday morning.
According to a Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) press release, Victor was apprehended at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and taken to the Marshall County Jail. Monday’s accident involved a blue 2005 Chrysler 300 – which Victor was supposed to be driving – and a red 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
After MPD officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Victor drove off, hit the truck at the intersection of Fifth and Main Street and continued for another block before crashing into the front yard of the car. a house near Fifth and State Street. From there, he got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
After a two-day manhunt, Victor was arrested and charged with evasive and reckless driving, failing to obey a stop sign, failing to obey the right of way, failing to provide evidence insurance, speeding and driving a vehicle without registration.
